Mario Gamba |

At first, Mario Gamba's life did hardly revolve around culinary delights, since he began his career as a translator for Spanish and French. Maybe that's the reason for his love for travelling, culinary arts and recipes from foreign countries. In any case, his passion for culinary delights soon prevailed over his job as a translator. After his professional training at Hotel Palace in St. Moritz, he went on to work for Michelin-starred chef Alain Chapel in France and later on for Heinz Winkler at Tantris. Together with Winkler, Mario Gamba opened the restaurant Tristan in Puerto Portals on Majorca, which was awarded two Michelin stars under his management. And, after a stopover at Gaultiero Marchesi in Milan, Mario Gamba finally opened Acquarello in 1994. Good for Munich: In 2000, his restaurant was awarded one Michelin Star. The magazine BUNTE named Mario Gamba's epicurean temple “the best Italian Restaurant in Germany” and Gault Millau lists Acquarello among the world's 100 best restaurants. To be continued... |
